Annoyance Call Trace

Trace any unwelcome or threatening calls made to your number. When you receive this type of call: •  Hang up on the caller •  Wait for two seconds •  Pick up the receiver and listen for a dial tone •  Dial *57 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1157 (rotary phone) •  A recording will prompt you. This is a free feature, automatically included with your local phone service.

Anonymous Call Rejection
Block incoming calls from telephone numbers who use per call or per line blocking. Calls from these telephone numbers will receive a recording stating the party they are calling will not accept incoming calls marked as private on their caller ID box. Calls not using blocking will ring normally.

To Activate:

•  Dial *77 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1177 (rotary phone)

To Deactivate:

•  Dial *87 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1187 (rotary phone)

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Call Forwarding
Allow incoming calls to your phone number to be forwarded to another number when you plan to be away for a period of time. When call forwarding is in effect, your telephone will ring once each time your number is called, but you will not be able to answer the call.

To Activate:

•  Dial *72 (touch-tone phones) or Dial 1172 (rotary dial phones)
•  Listen for a dial tone.
•  Dial the number you want your calls forwarded to. If this number is long distance from your telephone, you must dial the 1 and the area code followed by the number. (If this number is a long distance call, you will pay the toll charges for all forwarded calls.)
•  Wait for 2 short tones. This indicates the number has been stored.

To Deactivate:

•  Dial *73 (touch-tone phones) or Dial 1173 (rotary dial phones).
•  Two short tones will confirm this has been removed.

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Call Waiting
You are notified of an incoming call while on another call. You will hear a tone indicating a new incoming call. Simply press the hook switch (the buttons or hook the telephone receiver rests on) to put the original call on hold and answer the incoming call. Press the hook switch again to reconnect you to the original call. If you hear the call waiting tone and wish to end your call, simply hang up or press the hook switch. When you lift your finger or the receiver, you will be connected to the new call. If you wish to not answer the new call, the person calling will only hear your telephone ringing and not receive a busy signal tone.

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Cancel Call Waiting
Use this feature if there is a time you need to temporarily deactivate Call Waiting when making an call.

To Deactive:

•  Dial *70 (touch-tone phones) or Dial 1170 (rotary dial phones)
•  When you hear the dial tone, dial the number you wanted to call
•  After you disconnect the call, Call Waiting will be automatically reactivated.

This feature is provided free upon request to Call Waiting customers.

 

Caller ID
See the number and/or name calling you before you answer the phone. It will display who called even if the phone was not answered. You may have a caller id phone or a display unit attached to your phone which shows the information. Please be aware that non-listed, non-published or blocked telephone numbers may be displayed.

Caller ID charges are as follows:

•  caller’s phone number only: $4.00/month
•  caller name and phone number: $6.00/month

Caller ID service is susceptible to fraud known as Caller ID Spoofing. Disreputable persons can deliberately falsify the Caller ID number/name to disguise the identity of the caller. Congress is currently considering new laws to take action against spoofers. More information is available at: www.fcc.gov/cib/consumerfacts/callerid.html

 

Caller ID/Call Waiting
This feature allows you to see who is calling you when you are on another call. You will hear the Call Waiting tone followed by another beep.The number and name of the caller will appear on your Caller ID box or phone.

This feature is billed at $7.00 per month.

 

Do Not Disturb

Use this service if you do not want to be disturbed by the phone ringing during a certain time. Perfect for people who work at night and sleep during the day. Incoming calls hear a recorded message stating “The party you have dialed does not wish to be disturbed at this time. Please try your call later.” You can put the feature on at any time and take it off at any time by doing the following:

To Activate:

•  Dial *78 (touch-tone phones) or Dial 1178 (rotary dial phones)
•  Two tones will indicate activation

To Deactivate:

•  Dial *79 (touch-tone phones) or dial 1179 (rotary dial phones)
•  Two tones will indicate deactivation

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

Do Not Telemarket
Are you tired of telemarketers calling or the phone rings and when you answer, no one is there? Do Not Telemarket allows you to intercept callers trying to reach you with an announcement of “You have called a number which does not accept calls from telemarketers. All other callers may press 1 if they wish to complete the call.” If telemarketers complete the call, they will be in violation of the FCC rules. You must have a touchtone phone for this service to work.

To Activate:

•  Dial *78

To Deactivate:

•  Dial *79

This feature is billed at $3.00 per month.

 

Optional Extended Area Service (OEAS)
Call toll-free to 1 or all 10 of our towns we have service in for a monthly charge.

1 Town All Towns
Residential & Business Customers $2.00 $6.00

Choose from any or all of the following towns: Barrett, Cyrus, Donnelly, Elbow Lake, Hoffman, Kensington, Lowry, Norcross, Tintah and Wendell.

Per Line Call Blocking
This prevents your number from being given to the person you are calling (via Caller ID.)

To Activate:

•  Dial *67 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1167 (rotary phone).
•  Dial phone number you wish to call

This is deactivated when you hang up. (All customers automatically receive this feature.)

This feature is free and automatically provided to all customers.

Per Line Blocking
This prevents your number from being given (using Caller ID) to anyone you are calling.

If you would like your number to be given out for a specific call:

•  Dial *82 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1182 (rotary phone) and then the phone number you are calling.
•  Blocking will be reactivated when you disconnect that call.

This feature if provided free of charge to residential customers.
(Per Line Blocking is not available to business customers unless they can show that inadvertent disclosure of their number will risk harm to themselves, other persons or property.)

 

 

Selective Call Acceptance
Create a list up to 10 telephone numbers from which you will receive calls. Any numbers not on your list will receive a message that you are not receiving calls at this time.

To set up, delete or change your list:

•  Dial *64 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1164 (rotary phone)
•  A recording will prompt you through the steps

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Selective Call Forwarding
Create a list up to 10 telephone numbers that will be forwarded from your home to another telephone number when you are away. Calls from numbers not on the list will not be forwarded.

To set up, change or delete your list:

•  Dial *63 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1163 (rotary phone).
•  A recording will prompt you through the steps.

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Selective Call Rejection
Create a list up to 10 telephone numbers you wish to not receive calls from. Calls from these numbers will receive a greeting informing them their call is not presently being taken. Numbers not on the list will be completed normally.

To set up, change or delete your list:

•  Dial *60 (touch-tone phone) or Dial 1160 (rotary phone).
•  A recording will prompt you through the steps.

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Speed Calling
Store frequently called phone numbers on your phone. Simply call them by dialing either one or two digits.

You can store up to 8 telephone numbers by doing the following.

•  Dial *74 (touch-tone phones) or Dial 1174 (rotary phones)
•  Listen for the dial tone
•  Select the number (one or two digits) you wish to store the phone number on using the numbers 2 through 9.
•  Dial the telephone number you wish to store (e.g., 1-320-555-1212.) If it is long distance, you must dial the 1 and the area code.
•  Listen for 2 short tones. (This will verify the number is stored).
•  Repeat procedure until completed storing numbers.

You can store up to 30 telephone numbers by doing the following:

•  Dial *75 (touch tone phones) or Dial 1175 (rotary phones)
•  Listen for the dial tone.
•  Select the number (one or two digits) you wish to store the phone number on using the numbers 20 through 49.
•  Dial the telephone number you wish to store. If it is long distance, you must dial the 1 and the area code.
•  Listen for 2 short tones. (This will verify the number is stored).
•  Repeat procedure until completed storing numbers.

If you wish to change a stored telephone number, simply repeat the above steps. This will automatically erase the previously stored number.

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Three-Way Calling
Make a call to two people using this service.

To establish the second call:

•  Flash the hook switch.
•  Listen for 3 short tones.
•  Dial the number of the second call (including 1 and area code if necessary.) …When the second person answers, flash your hook switch to join the original call. If either of the two parties called hangs up first, you will still be connected to the remaining party. If you hang up first, all connections are dropped.

This feature is billed at $1.00 per month.

 

Voice Mail

The Voice Mail system is menu driven.  Listen to the voice prompts and then press the keys on your phone to select which option you would like.

Setting Up Voice Mail

 Dial *52

Listen to voice prompts:

  1. Select a PIN
  2. Record name
  3. Record greeting

To Change Your Voice Mail Password:

  • Access your voice mail box.
  • From the Main Menu, press 4 to change your settings
  • Press 3 for security options
  • Press 1 to change the PIN

To Change Your Greeting:

  • Access your voice mail box
  • From the Main Menu, press 3
  • To set up a personal greeting, press 1
  • To set up a system generated greeting or to change the recording of your name, press 3
  • To change the greeting that callers hear when you are busy, press 5
  • If you don’t record a personal greeting, a generic greeting will be played.

Accessing Voice Mail:

From your own phone:

  1. Press the Message button or dial *52
  2. Enter your voice mail password
  3. If you have new messages, the messages will be identified
  4. After hearing any new messages, you will be presented with the Voice Mail Main Menu.

From another phone:

  • From an external phone either:
  1. Dial the voice mail access number specified by your Administrator.
  2. Dial your company’s main telephone number and press # (if your company has it configured this way).
  • When prompted, enter your 10-digit number.
  • Enter your voice mail password followed by the # symbol.
  • If you have new messages, the messages will be identified.

Forwarding a Message:

While listening to messages, you can send a copy of the message to another recipient.

  • To Forward the current message, press 5
  • Enter an extension number or distribution group number. Repeat this step until you have reached all the desired destinations.
  • Press # when finished entering destinations.
  • You will be prompted to record an introduction.
  • After the tone, record your introductory message and press # when finished.
  • Press # to send or press 1 for delivery options, followed by# to send.

Delivery options include the following:

1              Review the message
2              Mark message as urgent
3              Mark message as private
4              Re-record your message
5              Request a delivery report
6              Request a read report
7              Add or remove recipients
9              Schedule the message to be delivered in the future
#             Send the message as is
*             Exit or cancel

Replying to a Message:

While listening to a message, you can call the person back by pressing 4 and selecting option 1.

This will not work if the voice mail system was not able to identify the Caller ID information when the original voice mail was received or if your phone is configured with call restrictions which prevent you from calling the originator’s number.
